Welcome to my website and blog, and its very first post!

The About Me page will give you a little background information on me and my work – that is, my writing and published work. Like many authors who have to hold down a day job as well as find time to give vent to their creative urges, I write in my free time.

My first full-length venture, based on years of research and witness interviews, focuses on a true-life ghost story. The Ghosts of Blue Bell Hill & other Road Ghosts, published in 2017, describes Britain’s (and arguably the world’s) most famous ‘road ghost’. Numerous witnesses attest to figures of young women that step deliberately into the path of passing vehicles at Blue Bell Hill, Kent (UK).

I’ve read of other authors who tend to shun non-fiction and its requirement very often for time-consuming research and factual verifications, in favour of fiction, where the imagination can be given freer reign and the project concluded more speedily. I turned in this direction for my second book (and, as it transpired, my third and fourth too), a middle-grade/YA fiction title, LEON SPARKS, which was published in 2018.

LEON SPARKS concerns a Martian boy who is placed at an English provincial school as part of an interplanetary exchange programme – where it is hoped he will absorb the social skills that will help save his race.

For me, though, the research wasn’t entirely left behind. The LEON stories are built on imagination mingled with facts, scientific and historical, which, I believe, makes for more engaging fiction. So, you will find in them real places, events and personages (such as H.G. Wells and his most famous works), and plots woven to engage readers of all ages over 9 years.

The latest title, Leon Sparks and The Time Machine was published on 20 January 2021.
